Habit? Bit of an understatement, don't you think? A habit is buckling your seat belt every time you get in the car. Maybe accepting you have an alcohol addiction will make it easier to address, or at least address it properly.

"Habit vs Addiction 101"
I guess I was associating that phrase, with a 2 pack a day cigarette smoking "habit" I quit over 25 years ago, nowadays , Alcohol and Nicotine are both " addictive" substances , with that being said, I can accept the fact that drinking gallons of alcohol is an addiction , however when I started drinking over forty five years ago , I was labeled as someone that had a bad "habit" of drinking to much.
Cheers

If you quit smoking, you can quit drinking
What kind of plan do you have to fill former drinking time?
I started some new hobbies and joined a gym.
I found I had to keep really busy during the "witching hour"
when I'd usually open the first bottle of wine or make a martini.
This got much easier when sobriety was established--at first not so much.
Also, I suggest stocking your house with plenty of non-alcohol options
like seltzer water, juice, herbal teas, tea and use them liberally.
If that's you very lovely dog, extra walks and hiking with him / her
would also be a good idea.

Joining a gym is but maybe 2% of the process. I made mine a life long commitment to be healthy, fit and active and leave absolutely no room in my mind (first) and in my body (second) for substances that would derail me. Best of luck to you, bullmas. You can do this.
