It's time......yes it's time

i believe i am now ready to give up this demon life, and live right.the amount of damage alcohol has done to my life is quite significant.everything in my life has suffered as a result.i'm 36 and have achieved nothing,i've wasted too much of my life on supidity.my attempts to seriously quit drinking before have always been colored with doubt, but i'm now ready to do what it takes.

Hey Kindablue,
I hope it makes you kindahappy to know that there are members here at SR who know how you feel today and want to support you in recovery. Welcome to SR. Do you feel like you need to see a doctor first before you start withdrawal? Or do you feel strong enough to start now? I went through alcohol withdrawal and it was not too bad. Kinda shaky for a week or so but glad to be sober for sure. Glad you're with us. Please post and let us know what we can do to help you.
Sandy

hi blue! you have my total support. sounds like you hit bottom! congratulations! we all have to hit bottom sometime in our lives. unfortunatly for some, they reach bottom on their death bed. i am new at recovery, i am almost 2 weeks sober, but i am 16. so i have that advantage. but i have dealt with alcoholism my whole life. you are in the right place for support and please keep us posted. the people here are a unity that is accepting of everyone and more than happy to support those who are in need. govod luck, and be strong

Hi Kindablue, Climbing over a mental barrier is one hell of a feat, and it sounds to me like you're well on your way up that slope. Can you see the view yet? 36 is no age at all, and plenty of time to build a massive life starting from now. I wasted 20 years or so drinking, but we can't look back - the future is what we're going to make it and the past we threw away is gone, finished.

You're on the right path Kindablue. Awsome.

Deg.
