Still Sober....4 years
Don't come here much lately. Just dropping in to let people know who may remember me that I am 4 years sober today. It's been a great ride these past 4 years. It hasn't been all roses, but it's damn better than it would have been if I were using. Learned so much about myself, accomplished a lot in my professional life as well as personal life. Still working on my Ph.D. in Counseling and will be entering the dissertation phase soon. Scored some new personal records in the half marathon and marathon. Training for an upcoming 50 mile race later this Spring. I couldn't have done any of those things if I were still using.
So for anyone who is struggling in the early stages of sobriety, hang it there, it gets better if we don't pick up. If I can do it, pretty much anybody can do it. The sky is the limit if you don't pick up. If you pick up, you might end up 6 feet under.
Good Luck to everyone.
