11 Days and Counting

Had strong cravings tonight on my way home from work. Once again, once I had something to eat, I felt better. The best thing so far about my sobriety so far is being able to wake up in the morning and get up without a hangover. I am able to look forward to work and feel clear-headed.

And now is Day 12 since past midnight. Very happy about this. It is so hard to get sober, I don't want to start over again. I have had periods of craziness but am finally clearing up.

Hi and congratulations.
You reflect my feelings as I often repeat: “If we don’t pick up the first drink we won’t have to TRY to get sober AGAIN.”

For a too long a period I was privileged to have a lot of miserable try again days which each time got harder because of promises and guilt. For the majority this results in a horrid existence along with too many horrid deaths.

Not pretty and I’ve seen too many not make it. This disease is progressive and will never get better unless we stop the intake of alcohol.

Again congratulations and I wish you well one day at a time in a row.

BE WELL

Don't stop now, you are really starting to get some momentum. Before you know it you'll be past a month and then two. Keep going

This is true. For the first time, I actually feel some momentum. And my husband is beginning to take it more seriously, so he has been cutting back his intake as well. It's almost as if my abstinence has had a ripple effect on his own drinking because it is a different environment. I also remind him of my sobriety so that he can calm down when acting out, which helps.
