Bit of an eye opener
My uncle is 50 years old, he's always struggled with an addiction to various drugs and he's been an alcoholic for as long as I can remember. Well about 2 months ago we were told he has stage 4 liver cancer.
I spent the afternoon visiting him in intensive care today. Although the cancer hasn't spread.. His kidneys are now failing. He's barely coherent and his skin has a greenish tint to it. Absolutely devastating. The hardest part was to hear my grandma (his mother) say "you don't think he'll be coming home?". It broke my heart to tell her "no grandma, it doesn't look good".
We all hear the horror stories about the effects of alcohol on the body but it's a whole different story when you see the evidence in front of your face.

You're right. It is. I watched my father in ICU dying from cirrhosis of the liver and it really is a slap in the face. I'm so sorry you are experiencing this. It truly is a horror story. (((HUGS)))
