My favorite is the arugement that marijuana should be illegal. I say why? if booze is legal why not legalize everything? I mean you cant say one thing is ok and another isnt there both just as bad. and Honestly if i want to eat aluminum foil and wash it down with raid its my right to do so.
maybe it should all be legal and just have a label not fit for human consumption? we can then all consume it if we please but its in no way food or medicine even etc..

The FDA doesn't regulate alcohol.
I know we've had this conversation on there before regarding whether or not it *should* be legal. Seems to be a mixed bag of opinions really. I mean, I'm in Denver. Weed is legal here. I don't smoke it, I don't drink alcohol, I don't care if other people do. I also know that eating too much fat, sugar and preservatives could kill me sooner than later, and that is why I'm educated about what I consume. I think it's a responsibility more people should entertain.

Alcohol isn't the problem, us Alcoholics is the problem. Most people can drink normally, so there's nothing wrong with alcohol.
Making it illegal wouldn't solve the problem. They tried it. I think bootlegging shootouts and gangsters qualifies prohibition as a major failure. It hasn't prevented heroine addicts, cocaine addicts, meth addicts etc.
A realistic education that teaches both moderation and the dangers of addictions might be more effective than the war on drugs or a DARE program. Maybe approach children and teens with the attitude of "we know many of you are going to do these things so here is some real advice aside from how to say no."

Even if that were true, the likelihood if alcohol becoming illegal in our lifetime is slim to none. Ideals are one thing, reality is another. And my reality is that I am an alcoholic and cannot consume alcohol whether it is legal or not. If you want to quit I hope you can find a strategy to do the same.
Really? A politician you don't know, may not have voted for, drafting a law that affects your life, prohibiting a drug you ingest would keep you from drinking again?
Interesting...I wonder how many people would stop drinking coffee if it was banned?

I can see where that might be true had you never picked up in the first place.
Legal marijuana doesn't interest me in the least. I never developed a taste for it. They could legalize all recreational drugs and none of it would interest me in the least.
