Intake Assessment Tomorrow
Tomorrow is my intake assessment for rehab to see if I qualify for inpatient or intensive outpatient. I finally have decided it's time to get the help I need and to take back what alcohol and drugs have destroyed in my life. I pray that tomorrow goes well and I will be given the help I desperately need and to heal and become a better person.

I went to my first AA meeting thinking it was gonna be me solo but there were a few other kids my age there which made me feel better about going. I just need to heal and to earn back the trust of friends that I lost and to gain my self respect back for all the things I've done.

I just hope my parents go for it because in their world im not an addict and they don't want to pay out for insurance, but if one of your own kids said they needed help wouldn't you give it to them no questions asked? I'm going to see if I qualify for financial aid due to me being a poor college student, but I need to be saved somehow.
I totally understand, I also am earning back the trust...by my actions. The day after our son's 17th birthday he went to his first young people's AA meeting. This was his decision. I thought he and his friends were throwing up because of bad Chinese food ( that's what they told us the next morning). He turns 22 in September, the day after he celebrates his 5th Sober Birthday!! I live in So Cal. My home meeting place is in Pasadena. Lots of 20 something's go to Friday night meetings. Even my home Noon meeting is a cross section of all ages. Even 19/20+ (gasp!). We all are addicts who seek sobriety & recovery. I'd encourage you to try 12 step meetings. As the print says "...we are not a glum lot". :-D :-D
Pinktee, My insurance (Kaiser) paid for part of my treatment. Of course, we all talked about who was paying what to be there. The State of California paid the tab for quite a few of the young women. I mean THE TAB. So, I would have someone assist you in that area. I'm sorry to read that that your parents are in denial (my opinion). Be strong, come here for support often. Truly, I and others care.
exactly what I needed
years ago now I also went in for assessment
they gave me the choice of either inpatient or intensive outpatient
I thought that the intensive outpatient would be best for me
but
the Lady said "that I had better go into the hospital"
it was exactly what I needed at the time
