need to quit, just not sure when
If I did not have a concert tonight and three finals in the next three day, I would say, go for it, get the withdrawals out of the way. But I don't think that I can go through them and still do well on finals. It's been less than 12 hours since my last drink, and the anxiety and cravings and sweating are already pretty strong.
Am I rationalizing? Do I need to continue drinking until I can see an addiction specialist so I can then be taken off alcohol safely? I've also been having palpitations and arrhythmia.

There's never a good time to quit Cantor, but there's no doubt in my mind sooner is always better.
If you're having palpitations and arrhythmia I strongly suggest you make seeing a Dr a priority.

Hi and welcome. I'm a hard liner so won't comment except to say that I procrastinated for over 2 years and that's too easy. It's good your aware of your needs and if you need to a specialist might help a lot. AA has helped many millions since 1935. BE WELL

I am rationalizing... and I'm now back to day 0. But even with that being the case, I will not make this day a total wash by drinking even more.
I have an underlying heart condition, which was diagnosed when I hadn't drank for a couple of years. Palpitations and arrhythmias are two of the symptoms for this, but they have definitely been getting more and more frequent. I have no doctor up here, but if it gets any worse, I'll go to an urgent care clinic (or ER if it's off hours) if I need to before I move back home.
