I remember when...
I remember when...
...the idea of a sober 'snow day' (or the equivalent today which is a rain day. ie - being stuck inside all day) was unfathomable. Like I really couldn't imagine how to enjoy a day stuck inside with 3 small children without getting drunk.
Well today is one of those days. It's just miserable and cold.
Instead of sitting around drinking and letting the TV babysit the kids.... we've
- made 2 soups
- done 3 loads of laundry
- put my toddler's current clothes in the donation bin and moved her up to the next size
- tackled the pile of paperwork pending for an organization I volunteer with (currently procrastinating the final one :rotfxko)
- made a semi-elaborate snack for my kids (instead of a bag of goldfish in front of the aforementioned TV )
- Listened to the radio my son built with my H
When my H gets back with my 2 big kids we're going to decorate for Halloween.
I'll tell you this - a sense of accomplishment beats a hangover. Any day.
Have a great day everyone.

great uplifting post. It is amazing all we accomplish when we don't drink or we're not hungover. There seems to be a theme of cleaning out closets today. You're the 3rd person that has bags for donations. I did the same thing yesterday!
Sounds like a great day! I was laughing when you mentioned the cold day part, because there was a time when I couldn't fathom it either. So glad your kids got to enjoy you, they get the most out of your sobriety, after yourself of course. My stepson went with his mom last May in the middle of my drunkeness but I am hoping when he comes back next year, I can give him the love and attention of a sober mom. Your post is inspiring, thanks!
