Healing Begins
Wow. On May 3rd, I signed up here on the soberrecovery.com forums and managed to stay about 9 days sober before I hit the bottle again. Got back on track for a few days after that, and then lost it completely and went back to it full blown, with no hesitation at all. Today is my 2nd day sober. I am happy. Something is different this time around though. I have to be honest with you, I've given my life to Christ ........ again.
I'm sure many of you have heard it all before, but it's making a huge difference this time around. Having God on my side makes recovery feel like real recovery, and not a thousand attempts or more all by myself. Some of these recovery steps are much the same as yours. One day at a time, or for some of you, one minute or second at a time. Grace, love, and mercy with myself, as I also accept them from God. I think a huge part of this process is knowing God loves us and that we're to learn to see & love ourselves the way God sees & loves us. This is where healing begins. Thanks...I've never heard of them....beautiful song.
Lots of us have a heck of a time with that 1st step. For some of us our bottom is rather wimpy....lose our job, significant other leaves, go to jail, etc......still others get to death row still trying to be in control of things that we have no control over. At least thats my perspective.
Hope you have identified the problem with the 1st tries.
