I'm back!

Had a great run..... Started drinking socially last November. Holiday time at its best! I continued to drink a couple glasses every evening since. Problem was they were 16 oz glasses. Any way this weekend I pulled a 3 day binge and I'm still sick. Never had a hangover last that long. I'm trying to taper down this week with the help of my Dr. She said don't cold turkey it, cut back to 16 oz for a week, then down to 8 the following. She has me using Xanax to help keep the withdrawals from getting out of hand. Keeping an eye on BP it's running kinda high.

Good to be back, not necessarily on these circumstances.

Do you now have a new plan to find your recovery?
Has your doctor given you any suggestions along those lines?

Rather odd that you were given a med while you are drinking.

Good to know you survived this long drinking bout..

Glad you r back! I couldn't do it alone. I needed a group of people working towards the same goal in order to do it right. I just couldn't stop being that little party girl!

She was more surprised than anything. She is my cousin and didn't realize my "2" glasses of wine each night equaled a bottle!

She seems to think we can pull it off without being admitted. Long term would be just say no again.

Sorry you're back...but good to see you nonetheless.
Is the plan abstinence for good once you taper down?

I'm training for a very tough endurance race so I decided to cut out all drinking to prepare for the next 3 months. Will I eventually have a beer with my Dad yes. However, I will no longer stock my house with merlot and drink everyday. I am an alcoholic, forever. This I know.....

Has anyone experienced a week long hangover after a serious few day binge? This has me puzzled. I've drank gallons of water, Gatorade, and still can't really eat anything. Well it's been 2 days hope tomorrow looks better!

I can save you a lot of trouble...alcoholics don't get to have a beer with their dad GM...not if they want to avoid the maelstrom.

We do get a lot of other things back tho

Best of luck on your race

Beer Wine or Liquor...your mind and body has no ability to
process them correctly if you are an alcoholic.
It really matters not what flavor the toxin is carried on.

As I am sure you know...you are still in de tox mode
Keep pushing the non alcoholic liquids to flush out the toxins.

Well last night was as to be expected... Sweat, in and out of sleep, trembling, crazy dreams. Call the Dr tis morning and she swapped me over to Librium. I've only taken on today because BP is back down, I'm not really filled with anxiety, however..... I'm sure business will pick up again tonight! That is usually when all the fun starts. I was able to eat today. Got down a banana, some grapefruit, a sandwhich at lunch and just inhaled a 6" subway.

Keep me in ya prayers. I'm supposed to take 3-25mg Librium for 3 days and then cut back to 2 then eventually one.

You'll never have to go through this again, once it's out of your system. It's not worth all the misery it causes.

Well so much for the taper off idea. Since she has me on Librium and I was already withdrawing pretty hard she felt just tapering and Librium was just going to make it longer and more painful. So we stopped the taper after 2 nights and here we are 42 hours dry. Not too bad during the day. So I try to save the Librium for the evenings/nights. Last night I had the sweats in bed till about 12pm then it was almost like a fever broke, I fell in a deep peaceful sleep till 5am. Thirsty as a camel and had to pee! Laid back down slept on and off till 10:30am. That is the best I've ever slept this early in any of my prior detoxes. Today I took one Librium at 1pm today to curb the anxiety and keep my BP down. Getting closer to being over the hump (I hope!)

Keep the prayers coming, they are working!

Are you attending AA meetings ?

I found that when I attended them regularly that I only had to detox once ....

All the best to you.

Not yet, I'm not really getting out bed much at this point. Have to get over the hump right now. At this point I have no desire to drink. Too sick... However when I can function again, I'll have to look into it.
