A New Job In Sobriety....!!!
As some of you know, I currently am able to drive after 10 years of being revoked because of numerous DUI's. My latest step, in becoming a normal tax paying citizen, is employment. I started a new temporary job today delivering flowers and various items downtown in my city. I'm in pretty good shape so it was advised that I walk when I deliver. Downtown Chicago is easy to get lost in but I made all my deliveries. I even went to a building to deliver something where I use to panhandle for change when I was drinking. I have a lot of gratitude today. I'm no longer the staggering drunk/addict who would go on 3 day benders. My live is still a mess but it is slowly getting better. My depression is slowly lifting but still struggle a bit. I'm really working the AA program and feel something this time.

Thanks everyone. I have been trying to get sober for nearly 10 years. Sometimes, I just kinda half tried but other times I put everything I had into recovery & still drank. This time I can see some light at the end of the tunnel. I have recently been getting minor cravings but remain sober since October. Not sure of the exact date. I woke up in the hospital (as usual) after a binge and kinda woke up to how sad my situation was. I remember thinking, "I can't keep living like this." Not sure if it was a spiritual awaking or what. I realize today that my situation is not unique though & for some people it takes a long time to recover.

I agree. The parking is like $20 a day also. I just drive to the El station and then ride into the city. I love my city in the Spring/Summer but not so much during the winters.
