Alcohol flashbacks?

I have been dwelling a lot on all the pain alcohol brought to my life. Almost like feeling the pain again for a moment. It is accompanied by a pang of guilt. I think, "Why did I do that to myself for so long? What a waste." I should have quit earlier.

I can write my signature because my hands are steady. I don't have to hide flasks in my pocket. I don't have to excuse myself to the bathroom to take a guzzle. The little things are really nice. You have to be grateful for the little things. I'm 3 months.

Well done on your sober time...

Many of us find writing a gratitude list daily very useful...
Here is the link to an active Gratitude Forum if you wish to join in there

Be gentle on yourself ABC. The past cannot be changed. Admit your faults and make amends where you can. Today is where we can make a difference for ourselves and others.

I think we should have all quit earlier- but it is an addiction and they are notoriously difficult to shake. It has been hard enough this time !!! If it were easy to quit SR would not exist.

Well, I find one of the good things about having all these crappy experiences as a result of your drinking is that once you come out the other side, you find immense gratitude for the small things that often "regular" people take for granted.

don't let the past define you now in the present...what is done is done....you know better now...so you do better!

Congratulations abc

I think it's important to face forward - no matter how much we want to, we can't do anything about the past - but we can do a lot about the present

My sponsor says "when you figure out how to change the past, let me know." lol

Seriously, my past is what it is, just a part of my journey through life (in my experience, almost everyone has a tough past of some sort).

Each day is a clean slate, I can make it a good one...or not.

Only one life to live!
