Time

It is amazing to me how much more time I have on my hands these days. I wasted an incredible amount of time running around buying booze and food (alcohol always made me hungry), not to mention the lost time/productivity because I felt like absolute crap and couldn't think. I will note that I got a lot done anyway. My business grew and I got more than enough done. Now, however, I can get much more done and there isnt the constant worry of "how am I going to get that done today while Im in this drunken fog." Many days I feel somewhat unproductive because I get everything done and still have time on my hands. I like that feeling!

I know what you mean....I am actually productive. I have been working on a book, or should I say, compiling information to eventually write a book for a year now. I would stop drinking for a week or so and look at all of my material and "somewhat" begin to compile the info into some sort of logical order but before you knew it I was back to the bottle and the book into went back into it's hiding place. Since I've stopped drinking I have been extremely productive with my progress on the book, infact I should have it completed within a couple of weeks. Probably would have never been anywhere close to writing a book about my journey as an alcoholic if I had not stopped drinking.

That is so true. That stop and start motion is very unsettling too. I would love to read your book if you are interested in getting some comments. I have co-authored a couple of books myself. PM me if you are interested.

Hi Ethos-

Yes. Totally and absolutly another benefit of sobriety.

I've got mornings back in my life and I remember the evenings.

Another point about time is I can do anything at anytime. I can play tennis at 7pm now b/c I'm not already drinking. I can go to the store at anytime b/c I'm not already drunk.

I can actually be of service and be helpful to other people without prior notice. What a concept!

Time, he's waiting in the wings
He speaks of senseless things
His script is you and me, boy

Time, he flexes like a *****
Falls wanking to the floor
His trick is you and me, boy

Time, in qualudes and red wine
Demanding billy dolls
And other friends of mine, take your time

The sniper in the brain, regurgitating drain
Incestuous and vain and many other last names
Oh well I look at my watch, it says 9:25 and I think
Oh God I'm still alive

We should be on by now
We should be on by now

Lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai
Lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai

You are not a victim
You just scream with boredom
You are not evicting time

Chimes, goddamn, you're looking old
You'll freeze and catch a cold
'Cause you've left your coat behind, take your time

Breaking up is hard but keeping dark is hateful
I had so many dreams, I had so many breakthroughs
But you, my love were kind but love has left you dreamless

The door to dreams was closed, your park was real and greenless
Perhaps you're smiling now, smiling through this darkness
But all I had to give was guilt for dreaming

We should be on by now
We should be on by now
We should be on by now
We should be on by now
We should be on by now

I can relate. This morning I got up early as usual to wake my daughter up for school, but went back to bed and didn't get up until a couple hours later. I was so disappointed that I had slept so long, until I thought: Hey - I used to have lots of mornings where I didn't want to get up at all.......... yes, it's a great feeling!

Re:time

Time heals all wounds...doesn't it. It allows us more freedom, too, now that were sober.

If I only had time to write more...darn job anyway.

5 am or a little after now, I remember I used to not wake up till I had to or was late very offten, all I needed was 15 minutes to shower and dress and rush out the door.

Now I have time to greet my family and have breakfast with them, and at night I can sit down and have dinner, I was just some guy that lived here, now I am actualy part of my family, I've reclaimed my life.

I call it the 36 hour day.
All that energy drinking refocused, to high impact effect!
Boom ya!
