Electronic cigarettes in AA meetings?

Wondered if anyone goes to AA meetings that people use smokeless electronic cigarettes.

I just got one in the mail today and wondered if my group would let me use it in a meeting or not. No big deal if its not cool. Just wondered if anyone had any experiences with this.

They don't smell at all. It's a pretty cool thing. Guess I picked up another addiction. Actually, I'm going to use it to cut down on cigs and eventually quit.

Hope all is well,
Michael

I haven't seen anyone use them, but if its quiet and has no scent, if it was up to me, I wouldn't mind it.

My guess is, it would be up to the establishment that owns the building, not the group conscious.
They are the ones who who would be responsible if anything illegal or unsafe happened.

2 members of my non smoking home group used them for a few months.
1 man comes with a wad of tobacco in his cheek and
brings along a spit cup.

The 2 went back to regular cigarettes ..smoking them outside

My group had no objections to the 3 ...
and the owners of our building were not informed ..to my knowledge.

Personally...spitting in public I found more unhealthy...
I never sit close to him.

They're easily googled Spooks - some discussion in our smoking forum too.

Not sure how widespread they are in Oz tho...
Good to see you back

My best advice is to ask the group if they have a problem with you using it. I've seen people use them in meetings I attend and no has objected to it. The jury is still out as to the harm these things may or may not cause to both the users and those in the immediate area.

I would conjecture that it's possible for some people to say the e-cigs still bother them because it reminds them of real cigarettes. In other words, the fake smoke and the inhaling and exhaling could make people uncomfortable if they were ex-smokers. That's frmo a sensitivity standpoint. From a permissiblity standpoint, that depends on whether e-cigarettes are allowed in places where real smoking is not allowed (I actually don't know this). If your group doesn't have a legal reason not to allow real smoking or the simulated version, then I guess it would come down to the sensitivity issue I mentioned. Hope you quit for real (I haven't).
