Sweating...Symptom of what?
I'm new to this site, and I'm not a usual forum person.
I've read a few other threads concerning excessive sweating, and I am guessing it's a symptom of my body trying to rid itself of toxins. When I'm drinking it will usually go away, or at the very least not really bother me.
But it definitely becomes the most excessive and obtrusive during the day after I haven't had a drink since the night before. Of course sometimes I'll drink for a couple days straight and then for the next several days I'm physically worthless and sweaty nonstop.
Anyways, I know I have a drinking problem, and this will sound ridiculous, but although I know I should stop, is there any suggestions aside from drinking water and and naturally sweetened juices that can help me from embarrassing myself with my constant sweating?

Notice the odor? When I was a drinker....I could smell myself
the mornings after a drunken night.
Before work...I took 2 sometimes 3 showers
and washed my hair. I also used extra Ban
and bath powder. I still felt clammy and smelly!
I read somewhere...????....that when the liver can't
process alcohol correctly or quickly....the residual
comes out thru our pores.
It also happened for 3 days of my initial de tox.
Sweats stopped at Day 4.
From my experience....that was true....
So I think you are correct in thinking it's toxins.
Alcohol is a toxic liquid.
Anyway....once I gave up drinking...I no longer reeked.

It's about de toxing from alcohol

You know I was just thinking about that today...I walk to the station most mornings...when I drank I was totally sweaty, I thought I was just out of shape. Well I haven't got into shape yet but I no longer sweat on the commute.
When you get so er you have the night sweats...I thoughtbof them as a way to cleanse the body.
Oh and embarrassing but trouble...no BO:-)

During the first few nites after a binge, I sweated during the night, too. I found that going to the gym and having a good sweaty workout each morning helped to minimize the sweating during the rest of the day. The night sweats never bothered me, though--if felt as though my body was being cleansed. The problem goes away once the alcohol has exited the body, unless the sweating is related to something hormonal (if you're female).
It gives me chills thinking about how I would sweat for a few days after a heavy binge. I remember one time being at work (office settin A/C condintion) and sweating badly at my desk, co-workers were staring at me like I was a freak. They all probably thought I was into binge drinking or maybe something worse.
I am so thankfull to be sober and never go through that again.

Hey JNA, Welcome!
When I quit the booze the amount I sweat for the first 7 days was down right scary. I would wake up 2 to 3 times a night so soaked through that I even had to change the sheets. It was disgusting and made me realize that the amount of drinking I was doing was not healthy and this was my body trying to clean up.
Have lots of nice warm dry cloths near by the bed and change as often as you like. It will be gone in a week and you will feel back to normal.

Yeah, sweating is a clear withdrawal symptom. It will stop if you can stay away from booze for several days.
The fact that you're having an obvious symptom like that means you're pretty dependent. You REALLY need to be thinking about quitting instead of fruit juices. IMHO.

Um,
The way I interpreted the post, JNA hasn't stopped drinking, but is asking what the excessive sweating is a symptom of.
It is a classic symptom of alcohol withdrawal, which means you have developed a physical dependency on alcohol. While I was still drinking every day, I would sweat all day, along with feeling muscle tension and constricted breathing, until I could drink again. Next day, more of the same.
The only way to make the sweating stop is to quit drinking. If you've developed a physical dependency, it's likely you are an alcoholic, and the only way to treat it is to stop drinking completely.

prolonged excessive sweating can be a sigh of a serious medical problem
I have a few friends in AA who sweat a lot,and they have liver problems and hepatitis
if it persists, you may want to see a Dr

I soaked the bed with sweat for the first 4 nights. It was nasty. I made it sober for 4 nights then caved. I binged for 5 more nights then went sober again now on day 6. The first two days I sweated a little and now so for today I feel normal. Stop drinking and hang in there it will get better.

I had night sweats on and off for at least two months. And yes, just regular physical exercise caused me to sweat more than "normal." I chalked it up to the toxins and my body replacing the bad with all the water. I drank almost three liters of regular ol' water daily for a long time.
