Most of my songs are country,

I feel Merle and George have been able to pen lyrics that really made me think about what I had become and sometimes how I got there.

YouTube - Merle haggard ~ Tonight the bottle let me down

This one really hits home but there wasn't a Youtube of it so I will post the lyrics.

A Drunk Can't Be a Man

He went bad with his child and wife Lord he leads a miserable life
But still he thinks the bottle is his right hand
Yes and he can tear down more than he's ever built before
A man can be a drunk sometimes but a drunk can't be a man

He lets his business lag behind or the nightlife he can find
Why he does all this he'll never understand
And in the morning when he wakes up Lord he can't wait to fill his cup
A man can be a drunk sometimes but a drunk can't be a man

For he goes from Doctor Jackill to Mr Hide
He seems proud to have the devil for his guide
Still he keeps on reaching out Lord he needs a helping hand
But a man can be a drunk sometimes but a drunk can't be a man
Yes a man can be a drunk sometimes but a drunk can't be a man

YouTube - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge

Under the Bridge RHCP---I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day, take me to the place I love, take me all the way...

YouTube - RHCP - Don't forget me

Don't forget me RHCP---Blood stain on your shirt sleeve coming down and more are coming to believe

YouTube - Trance- Lost [Club Mix]

For me fellow trance nerds in recovery "Lost" this one really hit me for some reason---"Let your fears go you may find your way back home"

Much love,

Clayton

This is the song that I have been singing since Monday I have looked at it as a song about my addiction and its love for alcohol. I haven't been able to get it out of my head, and it has brought a smile too my face.

YouTube - George Jones ,HE STOPPED LOVING HER TODAY

Stevie Ray Vaughan: Tightrope. The best song to rock out to sober!!

Caught up in a whirlwind, can't catch my breath
Knee deep in hot water, broke out in a cold sweat
Can't catch a turtle, in this rat race
Feels like I'm losin' time, at a breakneck pace

Afraid of my own shadow, in the face of grace
Heart full of darkness, spotlight on my face
There was love all around me, but I was lookin' for revenge
Thank God it never found me, would have been the end

Walkin' the tightrope, steppin' on my friends
Walkin' the tightrope, was a shame and a sin
Walkin' the tightrope, between wrong and right
Walkin' the tightrope, both day and night

Lookin' back in front of me, in the mirror's a grin
Through eyes of love I see, I'm really lookin' at a friend
We've all had our problems, that's the way life is
My heart goes out to others, who are there to make amends

YouTube - Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life by the drop

I was blessed enough to have seen SRV in 1986 at Mont Claire State College....Greatest guitar player that ever lived imo

One of my favorites. When I was still in active addiction before ever even knowing what Narcotics Anonymous ever was...this song touched me deep.

The song "Transcend" by Tamar.
I'm sure it is about a relationship, but so many parts of the song remind me of my recovery. She's just a young girl, but she's got quite a bit of talent, and I think it's a beautiful song.

YouTube - ‪Tamar Kaprelian - Transcend‬‎

Another yellow cab
Takes me back
But it is what it is
What's done is done
I'm not used to this, freedom
But it is what it is
The meter runs
I'm feeling numb

[chorus]
Tell me that this all means something
Tell me that there's light at the end
Tell me that I won't be here dying
On this ride maybe I can begin
To transcend
Transcend

Maybe years from now
We'll look back
And learn to forgive
This broken pact
Suitcase in the rain
Moving on
'Cause it is what it is
What's done is done
Sometimes we're wrong

[chorus]
Tell me that this all means something
Tell me that there's light at the end
Tell me that I won't be here dying
On this ride maybe I can begin
To transcend
Transcend

And I'll find that grace
In another place
There's a chance out there
That I've gotta take

And I'll find that grace
In another place
There's a chance out there
That I've gotta take

[chorus]
Tell me that this all means something
Tell me that there's light at the end
Tell me that I won't be dying
On this ride maybe I can begin
To transcend
Transcend
