1st Meeting - still can't believe it...
I started OA 11 years ago and drifted away from meetings 7 years ago. Of course I have relapsed and now I am an alcoholic too. I am day 6 sober and today I got to my first meeting.
So I am nervous and by the time I have had to buzz through two intercom doors, pushed doors which needed to be pulled and asked twice for directions, I am really starting to feel a bit sick. I get directed to a door with the AA sign on it.
There is paper taped up over the glass so I can't see inside so all I can do is take a big deep breath and open the door....
As I stand in the doorway there is someone sitting directly opposite the door looking right at me. It was my old sponsor that took me through all the steps and I had not seen for more than 7 years!!!
This was not his local meeting and it was only his second time there but he just happened to be sitting there, the first person I saw, on my very first AA meeting.
So I have been having one of those "is it odd or is it god" moments all day. I still can't quite believe it

I always think of things like that as a 'God-coincidence' or divine intervention.
Either way, I believe that God puts exactly the right people in our lives at precisely the moment we need them.
Very cool.

So true and I like the expression "God shot", I've never heard that.
It was great to catch up, have a coffee and a chat.......and, of course, to hear him share his recovery.
"Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God's world by mistake" - Well I can't argue with that.
