A little Graditude for this cold

I am thankful, not joking. I felt like a piece of garbage over the weekend and still do. I have a headache from Hell, scratchy throat, congested, aches everywhere, and nauseated which is the real kicker. I am thankful still.

Its a reminder of how I used to feel on Mondays that followed a long weekend of drinking. Drinking from noon til night on Fridays... a drunken ninja and sneaking drinks whenever I could.... all the way through Sunday night. Mondays would always feel like I had the flu... With unbearable anxiety.

I'm grateful because I was starting to forget how bad drinking made me feel.

it was the Flu that prompted me to quit drinking and smoking 3 weeks ago..

I remember a woman in AA said her drinking career was like having the Flu for 30 years!

When I was drinking, going thru withdrawals was like the worst flu in the world, and now that I'm sober, being sick is like going thru withdrawals. Glad I don't do that to myself anymore.

Your gratitide makes a lot of sense to me. I have to remind myself of how badly I will feel if I drink, and being sick (like I was last week) reminds me of that.

Yep, nothing like having a cold to appreciate sobriety.

If it helps, I think colds don't last as long when you're sober.

Feel Better!
