Sunrise has 30 days!!!
How did I do it? By getting to at least step 3... attending meetings when I can, and reading lots and lots of forum posts and helping where I can. Although I don't yet have a sponsor, I have an incredible friend/ mentor with 25 years sobriety that I can and do call. It seemed huge walking up to the front of the room and getting that chip... In fact I already took a picture of it and sent it to him, LOL.
I am also doing therapy. It's interesting to note my path of self dislike that began in my teens with cutting and then bulimia... and finally re-surfacing with alcoholism. I had not made that connection until I was browsing the self-help section in Barnes & Noble (I was getting my BB!) and I saw that the self- help for those other disorders were right there with alcoholism! It came as a shock to me then but now I can see it makes perfect sense.
I have been extremely stressed and anxious this summer; I am finding many, many situations where I am dealing with life in ways other than drinking. It's an eye opener, I'll tellya. And it's not easy... but I am so grateful for this sober time, the lack of hangovers... not regretting or re-thinking anything I did the night before because of drinking.

Elegantly Wasted, do you attend AA meetings? I know different areas do different things as far as chips. In our area, they are awarded at 30, 60, 90 days, 6 months, 1 year and 2 years.
As far as my avatar, I got it here:
Virtual Recovery Chips, medallions, birthday, aa, na, nica

Thanks Sunrise!! Congrats again. On day 55 this time. Have been doing a program that doesn't involve aa right now, but got a 30 chip about 3 years ago ( the last time I tried to dry out). Thinking about showing up to get a 60 and getting a sponsor again. Your post is inspiring. At 55 days; this is the longest I have gone without getting wasted since I was sixteen. Also doing some step work by myself, which I know is good for me!
