I fell off the wagon and I'm back to drinking but only on weekends, which is only Friday and Saturday nights only. I do not drink anything from Sunday to Thursday. Has anyone here gone through that? From drinking every night to just becoming a weekend alcoholic?

In my 20's I drank from Friday to Saturday.

In my 30's I drank from Thursday to Sunday.

In my 40's I drank from 7 AM to 11 PM.

There would be few weeks here & there when I would reduce my drinking but they got fewer & farther apart.

I drank SOLIDLY in my 20's. Did the whole rehab/hospitals scene. Now I drink 3/4 nights a week. Works for ME. I don't suggest it to others. Be safe

Starting in High School. Every Weekend at least a six pack Fri. and Sat. Night. Progressed to more and more for more and more wrong reasons. Thought It was cool at first. Came to really like the way it made me feel.

Went through a phase of drinking constantly (3+ bottles of wine per night) but now I just go on two- or three-day benders once every two or three weeks. It's the most I can handle without spending life in a depression and almost means I can still attempt to bodybuild which is my other hobby. They don't really mix though

I did that when circumstances prevented me drinking during the week Jesse - I found I just drank insane amounts on the weekends to 'catch up'...

I thought at the time I'd become a normal drinker (LOL) but when I could drink daily again, I did.

How long have you been drinking weekends only?

The only reason i ask is that i have done it and it lasted about 5 or 6 weeks before i started in the week again. The problem with drinking at the weekends is that you're opening up a Pandora's box. Plus why would i want to drink over the weekend, i now enjoy my weekends without the need for alcohol to be involved, recovery is all about replacing those voids that alcohol used to fill.

l know people that can do that.
But most peoples weekend slowly start earlier every week and ends later.
Before you know it your back to 4 or 5 times a week.
Sounds a bit like moderation management.
Nice if you can do it but most people can't.
Even after all my problems l am starting to think l can do it to.
"This time it will be different."

I have always heard that if you think you can moderate your alcohol intake, the best first step is to go 30 days without drinking.

So, maybe that would be my suggestion on a good place to start to seek an answer.
