Physical

Went last week for my first physical in years, doctor's office called today and said everything from my blood work was in normal range. I don't know how, with the amount I drank over the years, but I'm thankful. I'm still cautiously optimistic.

When I went in, I was honest about my drinking. At that point, I had been sober for about 40 days. He was frank and non-judgmental, and told me that quitting drinking was probably the best thing I could have done for myself.

So, just wanted to share and recommend going to the doc for a check up to you folks who haven't done so yet.

given a chance, the body will heal itself -- that's great news!

Way to go. I went into get checked to by my recovering MD who pulls no punches. 45 + years of drinking and everything is still ticking. Guess I just pickled myself. Of course we're not talking mental health, as Jimmy Buffet put it: "If we weren't all crazy, we would go insane." Take care

Way to go littlebluedog!!!

Glad everything came out good for you. My blood work returned to normal quickly also. I was amazed since I had drank for so many years.

I have found doctors to be very helpful and friendly when you are honest with them about your history. I received tests appropriate for an alcoholic that I probably would not have received otherwise. Proper medical support is so important.
