Welcome to SR.....
You don't have to be a daily drinker to be an alcoholic.
As you consider yourself to be ...I too think finding a
local AA meeting would be very beneficial.
Also...asking your doctor on how the best way to de tox
from alcohol is a wise idea. Alcohol withdrawal is a
medical issue and can be dangerous.
Glad you are here with us.....

I truly believe with out a shadow of a doubt that i am a full blow drunk. Even though i don't drink every night.
AA works for me.
I didn't drink every night either, but I knew alcohol was killing me, and I would be much better off without it. I haven't regretted not drinking.
Big step coming here.. thank you for posting, and welcome! You'll find a lot of people like you around here, and a lot of people who have stopped drinking and begun to live again.
Stick around, read, post.. it's like a little family of support!!

I didn't drink every night either. Couldn't afford to. I was always using situations that were out of my control as evidence I was not an alcoholic. EX: Went through basic training, no pink elephants and didn't drink. Can't be an alcoholic. Out in the desert and living in a tent for several months with almost no alcohol - didn't get drunk and again, no pink elephants. Can't be an alcoholic. Etc......
