Not to be a hair-splitter (what? here?!), 9/6/07 was my first day without taking a drink...although I'm sure I had a healthy BAC for a few days after that.

Hoo boy, it took almost a week of non-stop drinking (AFTER I had made a decision to go to treatment) before I was able to get myself on that train.

That was hell -- do not care to repeat it again.

Well Tib doesn't count beer so I guess it's pretty open to interpretation.

I count my date of sobriety as the same day of my first AA meeting. Unfortunately, many don't recognize my "sobriety time".

Look at all the sobriety in this thread (both real and imagined ).

I didn't drink when I was pregnant, and I probably had 3 serious attempts at quitting. Went back to drinking when I 'was just going to drink on the weekends'.

The difference between then, and now? SR.

My sober date is 1/11/06. One day in late '02 I realized I was an alcoholic and tried to quit on my own, then for the next 3 years I relapsed over 30 times. I detoxed myself..I wouldn't recommend it...ONLY when I completely let go of the notion that I could somehow drink successfully did I stay sober. From Jan until Memorial day of '06, I jonesed for a drink everyday, then the obsession was lifted the day after Memorial day of '06. NEVER GIVE UP. A sober life is worth it.

I know I've had my share of sobriety dates. A few days here and there sometimes a few weeks. 6 weeks seems to be the longest I've ever made. But none of them matter to me right now because the only one that means anything to me right now is my current date.

This used to bother me, but I cannot even remember. Too many. I don't plan on ever picking up again. My life is far to well without it.

Alot, but I think the last one is the only one that really counts.

Tried to stop many, many times, but failed. When I truly commited to a program, was willing to go to any lengths, worked the program fully, as it was intended, I've only had one sobriety date. 7-5-04 was my first day without a drink and I plan to keep it that way.
