1st week

Hi all. Today is my 7th day without drinking! Exactly one week ago I was throwing up outside bar at about this time. Came off a 4 day bender and was thought I was dying. It was a personal low for me. It's amazing what a week of no drinking and going to meeting, and posting on this site can do.

I have a loooong way to go and definitely need to start working the program, but I feel like I am in such better mental shape than I was a week ago. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

I am not going to drink tonight!

Congratulations on the first week it does feel good doesn't it. I am on day 20 and feel I am making progress..I am doing AA meetings, picked my sponsor last night..and tomorrow we are going over step one which I have pretty much finished...I know this isn't going to be easy..doing the steps..but I need and want to do them....i am awaiting that spiritual awakening..

Well done, Hugh's Dad...isn't it awesome to wake up without a hangover?

Keep up the good work, you will be in my prayers.

yeah just keep reminding yourself how awesome it feels to wake up not feeling hung over. that was the best part of recovery and for me still is. waking up rested, not tossing and turning in a hot alcoholic sweat. Then just noticing all the small things you normally miss while being hungover through out the day. The way things smell the air on your face, not having stomach trouble or feeling exhausted all day. Such a great feeling being sober.
