anyone done this???

Since I stopped drinking, I've traded in drinking glasses upon glasses of wine a day, with drinking can after can of caffiene free Diet Dr. Pepper!!!! This can't possibly be good for me, can it??? Am I crazy ya'll, or did anyone else do something like this after recovery? I think it's more a mental thing that anything else....you know, so used to drinking something every hour of the day. Any suggestions on how to stop? My counseler suggested journaling which helps a little bit, or I might play the piano or something - but nothing quit seems to help like drinking that Diet Dr. Pepper (ha ha).

Insanely yours,
PianoGirl :p

No...no...no.Diet Dr Pepper just won't cut it.You must learn to drink endless pots of full strength coffee. All alcoholics drink coffee. It is an unspoken requirement.Failure to drink sufficient amounts of coffee will doom you to a life of despair.Coffee..it works if you drink it,but you gotta drink it every day

Nope

You are both incorrect!!

Diet Coke is my solution.

ah well...I do live near Atlanta!!

Yes...I still drink a lot...just not booze.

Journaling is a fine idea ...I did it for 5/6 years.
The oddest thing...what bothered me on page 3 was dissapated or gone by page 30. It was a great way to keep in balance.

My best to you Piano Girl...

Climbing the walls....

I LOVE coffee, Phoenix! But, if I drank a whole pot of the fully leaded stuff every day, I'd being talking as fast as Speedy Gonzalez! Caffiene does insane things to me. I like the Diet Coke too, CarolD - caffiene free diet cherry coke is good.

At least I haven't given in to my other temptation yet - eating a gallon of Mayfields Moose Tracks icecream every day!!!! Boy, that would be sooooo good about now.....

Just coming back to the program

after a week long binge, but....

I drink tons of Fresca (grapefruit sugar free soda), seltzer water with lime and (yes, it's true) coffee. I also found that I crave brownies, but I have to be careful because my body retains brownies

Anyway, glad to be sober today. I am determined to stay on track this time!!!

Oh my gosh, yes, I had quit drinking coffee, cuz of jitters, but had to start again. I think it's just another one of those addiction things, better than alcohol. That lifting feeling, plus the taste is addicting. I just wish it can be easy to switch that to exercising.

when I got sober I started drinking coffee at the meetings, but had to give it up, now I drink a LOT of pepsi, I know I should probably be drinking water, but hey pepsi tastes so much better.
