Stooopid reasons to avoid meetings

I can really come up with some beaut's.

Here's one: "I can't go to a meeting because I might run into my x-husband".

And another: "I can't go to a meeting because I have alcohol on my breath".

Oh, here's another one: "I don't want to go to that meeting because I'm not like those people".

OR this one: "I can't go to a meeting because it's raining/snowing....."

OR "I'll go to a meeting tomorrow, this weekend, next week"....

Anyone got some funny ones? Doozies? Sometimes it's just good to laugh at ourselves!

Honestly, I am able to walk to meetings and a while back when I was so overweight, I was afraid to walk to meetings because I thought people would think I had been drinking, just because my fatass would be sweating so much.

How about, "meetings just don't help me anymore." Perhaps it's the truth.

"I can't go because other people scare me." (I'm molling around with this one right now.)

-or-

"I can't go to the meeting because they make the coffee too weak."

"I can't go because everyone tells better stories than I do."

"I can't go because I don't have anything to wear!"

Tib you would not be the first person that may be the truth for, one of the very reasons that Bill W. & Dr. Bob continued to search for other paths to sobriety besides AA.

Tib perhaps you should focus on the posotive and search out another program and not worry so much about why AA has not worked for you.

Tib there are other very good programs out there that work for plenty of other people, focus on those.

Grace I come up with really dumb ones!!! So dumb I go to the meeting instead of using dumb excuses to myself to not go.

Funny thing, but it seems as though the meetings I get the most out of are the ones I really did not want to go to at first.

I'm
too tired
too angry
too spiritual
to go to an AA meeting

That
angry guy
boring guy
******** guy
will be there and share for ages

My latest one is well, last time, you went to that one, it was so terrible, you could've just stayed home and listen to your head. That would be better for you and you would've saved gas. (Yeah the gas part's the bit that surprises me the most too. Since when did my life have a price tag on it?)

How about, "there is too many drunk people at the meeting."

I'm too embarrassed to admit I drank again and need help. I'd rather wait until I have five years sober and can tell them how it works.

Because I'm going to get there and it'll be a so-so meeting. I think that anyway because I don't have a car and I still made it to two meetings this weekend.

"I feel great! I don't need a meeting!"

My sponsor kicked my ass for that one. "Stop being so f***ing selfish...go help someone who is struggling."
