Exclamation Best foods for detox?

Hi there.

I'm on day 2 of detox right now..
lots of dry heaving and nausea and anxiety.
TRYING my best to drink water and taking Bcomplex

But any food sounds disgusting to me! I know I should probably eat but I cant even CHEW something muchless swallow it and keep it down.

Any advice or certain foods?

Thanks
BJ

oh yeah and also
how long did YOU wait (if you detoxed) before eating?
is it better to wait for your natural appetite to come back or force it?
I feel like im never gonna eat again and im afraid of being malnourished!

I think a soft bland diet is best for awhile.

Jello-Beef Broth- Soft Scrambled Eggs-Milk Toast-
Oatmeal...Ice Cream...Juice_gatorade ..Soda Crackers

However... I did not go to a professional
de tox or treatment center.

No I did not force myself to eat
too darn sick....

Don't eat if you don't want to. Your body will heal faster without having to work on digesting things. Chicken broth, ginger ale, soda crackers like Carol said. Oh....hope you can get some rest tonight even if you can't sleep. Detox sucks.

If you don't eat, make sure to at least sip on some gatorade and water. You need to keep your electrolytes stable. Perhaps taking small sips will help with the nausea. I know when I had terrible food poisoning, the only thing I could even sip on was orange soda.

Don't worry - your appetite WILL come back soon enough. In the meantime try out the things CarolD suggested above, and just tiny bites. And tiny sips. You will start feeling better soon!

Thanks! Maybe tomorrow will be the day. My dry heaves have subsided somewhat (we'll see tomorrow morning) but i get anxiety swings and im REALLY SENSITIVE. I can barely talk without crying. No shakes yet really but, i dread day 3!

I just hope that I can make it to work Sunday Night without much anxiety - Ive already called in 2 days!

thanks again!

The best thing to do and the safest thing to do is to see a doctor ASAP, people DIE all the time doing home detoxes.

If you are going to gamble with your life though lots of gatorade, a good multivitamin, a vitamin B-12 Complex, and Milk thistle.

The worst things in detox usually happen in the third or 4th day. Dtox kills in many ways, extreme high blood pressure which can lead to a stroke or heart attack or of course the DT's, extreme convulsions which can result in death.

I hope you get your priorities in order (no offense intended).

Keep coming back.

I detoxed alone and without anyone knowing and it sucked! I wish i had done it better and smater and I hope you will. Does anyone know your condition? Call a doctor, any doctor, go to the hospital (make something up if it will get you there)tell a family member or friend. Just make sure you aren't alone. I layed alone dry heaving and telling my denial based husband I had the flu and then went to work and shook and threw up with "flu-like" symptoms. Really bright, huh? Today I wish I was strong enough and brave enough to get real help...but hind sight is 20-20!

Day 3

so was feeling pretty well night of day 2. until bedtime. dry heaves, cant sleep, feeling awful, disorientation, sweating.. couldnt really sleep til 730am or so. I dont know what it is about night time.

anyway i borrowed some money to get to my doctor (MY old doctor) and of course he lectured me about not coming sooner. He prescribed me with librium and something for my stomach and wants some follow up. today i've been feeling pretty ok - no anxiety or stomach pain. And I was able to eat a little! and it wasnt hard! Heres hoping tonight is better than last night!

as for work - dr's orderes. not for a week.

I just tried to make sure my body had calories. So lots of juice/gatorade, bananas and crackers. Anything I could keep down.

It took about 4 days before I wanted to eat.

Good job on seeing the doc.

I'd go for an Orange Julius if it was me. Got the OJ, and the powdered sugar. Not only is it good, it's good for you.

I just thought of this-being a Mom, when my kids get the flu I give them Pedialyte Freezer pops. They have electrolytes like gatorade but easier to keep down. I even eat them when I'm sick and they really do help.
