DLAD Hearing

Today I recevied my hearing date for my drivers license. It is Aug 12 and find myself worried already. People of athority has always made me nervous. Even though I have nothing to be worried about. It is their understanding of a alcoholic in general that worries me.

I know it is there job to make sure the roads are safe. My two DUI's were 10 years ago in Feb. Been sober for 7 1/2 years now. The last hearing I just about walked out of there in tears. That was three years ago. He said that he hears promises all the time and what makes me any different? I did recieve a restricted with the interlock that I could not afford.

Any advice???

Follow their rules, play their game.

You have little or no control over this situation, do whatever they say you need to do.

Thank's tommyk

Yes, I know all to well about what they ask for. I have done all there requirements. Guess I should not worry like you said. It will not change the outcome.

I e-mailed the lady that done my evaluation with my concerns. She was to kind with her reply. She said I was a poster woman for sobriety. I have known her for about 5 years.

You are prepared....you have done all the requirements
it's simply out of your control.

Wear blue to the hearing...it's the color for
trustworthyness and honesty. Or so I learned from
a class on professional advancement...

Prayers and Hugs....

Thank's again

And Carol I was planning on buying something new to wear because I live in jeans. Wanted to show respect with wearing something decent. See if I can find something in blue.

To funny Taz

I do feel better today about it. When I got the letter yesterday all I thought about was the last hearing. I felt like an untrustworthy second class person because of his words to me.

But I do have everything in order and I do have a lawyer. Will not be seeing the same hearing officer this time.

Should of waited a day before I wrote this.

I truly believe you will get your license back this time. 10 year suspension on a 2nd seems a little harsh to me, especially with 7 1/2 years of sobriety.

Of course, I also live in probably the most lenient DUI state in the country.

Hey Texas

My license was only suspended for 30 after the first one. My 2nd offence was about one year later. It then was suppened for a year. I went to get my licence back after a year was up and they told me I had to contact the DLAD.

I have been in front of the hearing board 4 times. 2 offences in 7 years a license is more or less revoked until they see fit to give it back. There requirments are tough. You just cannot tell them you are sober you have to PROVE it. Not easy.

Once I was driving to fast and the other to slow. I have heard of people causing accidents or have many drunk drivings that still drive today. Never had a lawyer until now. So this might be why.
