4 days now...

Hi, well I have finally admitted to myself, that Iam an alcoholic....my family has of course known for sometime now......My drinking got worse after my Dad passed away almost a year ago...I am experiencing blackouts now everytime I drink..I wake up with bruises and that awful pit feeling in my stomach, like..oh I've done it again..thankfully I have no children, but my relationship is suffering.. I pray this will be my bottom...

Please try. That's all we (I) can ask, just try. As a new "sober" kind of guy, this forum has been a life saver. Do whatever you have to, just don't drink.

Honesty is key to beginning recovery, admitting your own alcoholism to yourself is crucial, without that you have no reason to base recovery upon.

Willingness must follow right behind that honesty.

I had to be willing to do what ever it took to get and stay sober.

Are you willing to do what ever it takes to get and stay sober?

If you are honest about your willingness then I found a solution that will work for anyone who is honestly willing to do what ever it takes to get and stay sober.

Do not get me wrong, the solution I found is not the only solution out there, but it is the only one that worked for me, remain willing to keep trying any way you find.

Glad you have admitted that you are an alcoholic. In the beginning I looked at it as if it were a bad thing but after I got involved with the solution realized it was a good thing. Being in recovery means I didn’t have to wake up to a world full of chaos. I am sorry to hear about your Dad I wish you well and look forward to future threads:ghug2
