Therapy Yesterday - new insight
I've got issues with the higher power stuff and it's a reason that I haven't been to AA for a while, I am put off the steps. *ducks* lol
I was talking to my therapist yesterday and he reackons I've got a headsup on it because I was talking about the step where you tell someone all your 'stuff' and said, hey you know I've been in therapy for 4 years now and I've been through all that, I don't want to do it again.
He said that in that statement I was talking about a power greater than myself - my connection with my counselors (I have this drug and alcohol counsellor and a long term counsellor for life issues) that has enabled me to heal so much. It was like a lightbulb went off in my head and a huge revelation. That energy or spirit (I call it Geist) that is shared when we meet is a power greater than myself. Aha!
I obviously still have issues but I'm not inclined to share with anyone other than my counselors, and that's ok!
We also talked about willingness but that's a subject for another post.
Anyway, just wanted to share :0)

needtobefree you are speaking of step #5, no reason in the world one could not do thier 5th step with a counselor, what ever it takes to unload ALL the baggage, and a Power greater then your self is one of your understanding, not mine, a churches, or anyone elses, it is a beginning, a place to start from.
