Thumbs down Hello all......

Yes it's me again, how are you all... I'm not so great... not at all... been going off all my medications because they've been ruining my life, stamina and just... everything. My drive for life is really down, my depression has been up, I don't even want to shave because it hurts... everything sucks... sigh... feel like everything I do has to be changed someday or asap... I mean like anything I do, anything. Sigh.

Did your doctor agree to let you quit your medications?

I am concerned for your health because
I too take meds daily
No way would I quit my meds on my own.

Please be safe ....

I agree with Carol. It can be dangerous to stop medications without consulting your doctor.

Are you still drinking?

Paulos,

I hope you are doing your own research into all that crap the doctors are giving you.

I couldn't believe the list of crap they found in that Heath guys system, and they called his death an accident. No way can all that crap be any good for you, 'specially all at once.

JMHO,
Steve

First, you should always consult your doctor.

That said, when I did it; I did it cold turkey. However, I did consult a doctor afterward. That lasted all of a week. I refused to take the cocktail they gave me because it made me crazier than the booze. My girlfriend was actually accusing me of drinking again. Then, the one night I proved it to her by chugging her wine I was proved correct.

That Antabuse is a m'f'er.

The solution to one mind altering drug is not another one. Supreme will power, as tough as it sounds, was the only way for me. That, and Sober Recovery and AA.

Keep it up!

Paulos you are an intelligent young man so I do not need to tell you that alcohol is a depressant.

Does your doctor know about your drinking?

Read the book "Beyond the Influence", you will learn more then you will ever need to know about alcoholism and how to recover from alcoholism. The scientific research in this book flat out says that the vast majority of alcoholics are unable to recover without a recovery program!

Paulos have you checked out any recovery programs?

More alcoholics die from alcoholism then do recover!

The majority of alcoholics that do recover use a recovery program.

Alcoholism is a disease!

If one has cancer they go to a doctor who knows how to treat cancer, cancer is a disease and as a result ones will power alone can not treat it.

If one is suffering from the disease of alcoholism they go into a recovery program that has a track record of helping alcoholics recover from alcoholism because alcoholism is a disease, for the vast majority of alcoholics do not recover on simple will power alone.

Alcoholism kills!

Paulos I will say to you what someone else said to me. "Check your record."

In looking at my record I had tried for 10 years to quit drinking my way and always wound up drinking again! In looking at my record I was able to say "My way does not work!". I was very lucky, alcohol did not kill me before I was able to ask for help from people who knew how to quit drinking and stay stopped!

Paulos I beg of you to check your record! Look at your record of quitting drinking your way, has it worked?

Are you willing to die trying to prove you can stop your way and join the millions of other dead alcoholics who died trying to stop drinking thier way?

Quitting and staying stopped in a program of recovery is the easier softer way.

Paulos you want help, if you did not you would not come here to SR. I pray one day you will be able to reach out to some recovery program and ask for and get the help you need.

Check your record.

Thumbs down ugh

Thanks Taz, but I went 24 days that one time, I know I can do it. Maybe it's too late for me, my shortness of breath is so bad... my mother says it could just be my obesity, going off my Lamictal, anxiety, and of course ... oh yeah my mind has been so hazy I forget what I'm saying part of the time. Uhh... forgot what else she said... oh yeah the cold weather, it's 9 degrees here.

You know you can do it?

I quit for a year and a half and went back! I was miserable the whole time.

Paulos if you know you can do it, why haven't you done it?

Paulos it is never to late, I know 2 men in AA who were winos, they spent years on skid row, no job, no place to live, they had hit the real bottom, the only way they could have gone lower was to die!!!!!

One of these men has been sober for 36 years, the other for 10!!!!

Paulos the only time it will ever be to late is when one dies.

Both of these men asked for and got help from AA, they were skid row bums! Today to see and talk with them you would never dream that they had ever even been homeless, little lone winos!!!
