Long term health question...
I only quit on Tuesday after ten years of drinking heavily from when I'd get up in the morning, at work, at home, even when exercising. I remember reading how the heart rate stays high for a while after quitting as well as the blood pressure. I feel fine now after the drugs I was given. My liver passed its tests with flying colors so that's really my only concern, my heart and blood pressure. My doctor will be out of town until the 12th so any thing anybody knows will keep me from worrying until then.
hi PTSD - welcome!
well ... worrying ... causes those very things. Trust that you've made the right decision, and maybe ask your HP to help you trust in that decision? I rely on my connection with the Infinite in almost everything any more ...
also - the local pharmacy here (and one at Wal mart) has those free BP things - they're only about a point or two off. not enough to make them invalid.
meditation, camomile tea ...

A gift that you will develop if you choose to do a 12 step program is serenity. The ability to differentiate what you can and cannot control. Toss it out there to God and let him/her deal with it. Your Doctor is away but will see you when he gets back. Until then, enjoy your decision. My bets are that you're fine but keep an emergency number with you just in case.

after years of abuse, it takes it's toll on the body. Luckily the liver is able to regenerate itself. Other organs do get affected significantly. The heart is a major one, also the kidneys. In later years, many have kidney trouble because of the constant high blood pressure that chronic drinking brings.

Welcome PDST...
From another post...
I see you are drinking a lot of carbonated drinks
You might want to make sure they have no caffeine
until you can talk with your doctor.
3 days is a good start...Congratulations!

If my past is of any help, when I was in detox after 3 days my BP was 190/96, a couple of weeks later it was down to 130/78. That was 4 years ago, these days it's been running around 118/58. I should note that I'm an avid runner, but time does heal the body when you stop drinking.

An occasional vitamin pill is considered wise to counteract the nutritional deprivation most of us have inflicted on ourselves. Meanwhile Rx = don't drink and go to meetings. Support from the Snowgoose.
