Ask, and I shall receive.
This past Saturday night I attended a 11PM candlelight meeting, and the topic was service work. When I spoke at the meeting, I made the comment that I needed to do more service work. Lately I have been putting forth more effort, cleaning up after meetings, taking out the trash, working the coffee bar, etc.
Yesterday was a tough day. My son wasn't feeling well and he was crabby all day. When he went to bed, I hopped in my truck and went to a much needed meeting. When I arrived at the meeting, the person who usually chairs wasn't there. I volunteered to chair and it was a good meeting.
Just after the meeting a guy came up to me and liked what I said during the meeting. I haven't seen him before, and that was because he just got out of rehab. He said he was serious about working the program and he asked me to be his sponsor. I accepted.
I knew I needed to do more service work, and apparently God agreed. Since I have put forth the effort to give back I have found a happiness that I haven't felt in a while. I pray that God helps me to continue to keep putting forth the effort, and that I can maintain being a service to others in the program.

Man, I feel the same way. I feel as if I am a servant. Greatfully, a good thing, but in the eyes of the world, a wuss.

That is wonderful. I am also thinking that just by the nature of your job... You do service work and get paid to do so.
Stay safe out there but still carry the message with you.

That's awesome Tom, I love hearing how other people are of service. I'm always grateful for service opportunities, and for the gift I've been given of three sponsees.
