Side effects after being sober for 4 days...

Well, I still have no urge to even think of taking a drink of alcohol so it is going very good so far. But...

-Still can't sleep at night, heart beats fast and I just sit in bed rolling around all night. Anxiety.

-Developed some skin rashes. I helped treat them with anti-biotic oitment and ( I think ) it has helped. They are starting to go away now.

-Redness in hands, toes, and cheeks. They really only get red when I am a bit nervous and/or am hot.

-Urine is getting a little clearer by the day. It is still a neon yellow. And after drinking lots of water, whenever I do urinate it isn't that much. ( This really worries me. Will this ever get better? I really, really don't want to see a doctor , but I will if I have to).

-Also, had some discomfort in my lower back. Hope this isn't my kidneys. But it also has lessened.

-Ability to remember and think has improved significantly.

Other than that I'm still chuggin along with support from my family. I haven't told them much about my side effects though. My sister knows more than anyone. Still, the urine color and small amounts of urine are concerning me along with the discomfort in my lower back. Hope it gets better. Anyone relate?

Anyways, keep staying sober guys!

Wow Horizon, well done on four days!

Sounds to me like your body is dealing with some issues. Yes, when we consume alcohol, we cause a whole lot of things to change. Now you're dealing with your body changing back to a more normal state.

I went to my doctor after I quit drinking and explained all to him. He ordered some simple blood tests and gave me a physical. On his advice, I feel better for taking nutritional and vitamin supplements. Your doctor will help you with this also. Remember, they've heard it all before and can give you some really great advice.

The simple actions of proper nutrition and leading a healthier lifestyle will likely make these uncomfortable symptoms go away. The insomnia, anxiety etc. sound like pretty common reactions and will go away. When you do start feeling better(a little every day) you will be truly amazed.

Again, congratulations and keep well.

Ron

I do think you should see your doctor about your
urination. You might have a kidney infection.

Well done on your sober time!

I have the same issues with not being able to sleep when I don't drink. Would you believe I wake up 100 times more rested the morning after drinking than when I do not? I realize this is only temporary until I get some more time behind me.

And I get the rashes on my legs. I also smoke a lot (because of the drinking) ao I am not sure if that is related to anything I'm experiencing.

Has anyone (men) noticed hair loss on your legs and hands?

In addition to seeing a doctor, it sounds as if you are needing more water.

Everybody is different, and the time it takes to normalize ones energy, skin conditions, vascular health etc, varies too much for us to answer your questions. I know you don't want to go see a doctor, but it will not hurt in this case.

Then, follow a healthy diet, get moderate exercise, and lots of water and rest.

I still struggle with the insomnia after almost 7 weeks now. I've read sleep patterns may never go back to normal. I find a nice 1 hour nap in the afternoon helps.

The urine will clear. Just keep yourself hydrated. I know, it's scary urinating about a teaspoonfull that's dark orange......I thank God every morning for a nice, long, clear, p**s.

My lower back hurt at first too. It went away. But yeah, I'm guessing kidneys.

My liver is still swollen, and that worries me......

Glass - have you been to the doctors about your swollen liver? That can be very serious as I'm sure you know.
