Spirit of Sobriety Award
I saw an article about Rob Lowe getting a Spirit of Sobriety Award yesterday.
I never heard of the Spirit of Sobriety. Is it an AA thing or completely separate?
The article is interesting in that Lowe is grateful that being an alcoholic allowed him to recover to a fuller life. I think that is a common thing in AA.

I can relate to his reflections on "the gift of alcoholism." Since I quit I've discovered a life with strengths I never knew I had. Things were drowned out by drinking and now they're surfacing. We can emerge from this a better person than before. That is a gift.
