This morning, on my run, I passed by a van for a local restaurant. The advertisement on the side had a buxom beer maiden in a skimpy outfit holding a couple of huge mugs of beer. After catching site of this out of the corner of my eye, I chuckled to myself at the one/two punch this lust pitch was trying to make. And quickly focused again on the path in front of me.

Thus, I was witness to a miracle this morning. Because without the help of a couple of 12 step programs, I would have been obsessing over that beer maiden and the cold beer she held the entire rest of the day. Or, until I could satisfy those impulses through compulsively acts of self destruction. Yet, this morning, I laughed at the attempt to appeal to my lower nature. And didn't think about it once more until I just now sat down and tried to think of what to write today.

When I work it, it really does work.
