Lines
Lines
As a practicing alcoholic and addict, I crossed all kinds of lines. Boundaries I never thought I would see much less go beyond. As a friend of mine says "I was breaking standards faster than I could lower them". Most of these lines I crossed society had put in place. It was a seemingly habitual practice carried out with a denying sickly pride. I would find a new line and cross it.
Today, I've drawn my own line. Sobriety. And for today, just today, I am not going to cross it.

We were talking about this at our meeting tonight. It reminded
me that there was actually a time when I would not drink alone
because that was something only alcoholics did.
Just one of the many lines I drew in the sand before moving farther
down the beach.
