L-Glutamine

Have heard that this is helpful for alcohol cravings. Anybody ever tried it? I'm on day four, doing well, but I know the crave will hit with a vengeance sometime and I'd like to have a couple of options on how to handle it.

I never tried L-Glutamine, but ice cream or a peanut butter sandwich worked for me. It took the cravings away, pretty fast.

I ate lots of sweets because it was the body craving the sugar and I used to think it was for a drink

I chew on a Glucose tablet and it raises my blood sugar to normal right away. I like the raspberry ones. Carry them in my purse.

Ice cream and Doves dark chocolate pieces worked for me.

I don't trust supplements that claim to work on the brain.

Early on I used it. I really don't know if it helped, or how much it helped! I didn't have many cravings. But this could also be because I wanted to finally get sober. It's just one of those experiments I don't want to do on myself, you know? Test with glutamine, and test without... lol. I used it just to cover all the bases. But for all I know, it didn't do a thing.

I took it years ago, I hadn't really accepted step one so continued drinking.
For me the jury is out on supplements, I have no idea if they really work.

For me it took time for cravings or is it obsession to leave me but they did. I did ingest a lot of sugar at the beginning but didn't worry about it as my main concern was not to drink.

Ther is a list of suggestions on what to do whn the cravings hit, going to meetings helps but when a craving hits you may need something more immediate. I concentrated on changing my thinking by listening to speakers online, reading about the bad affects of alcohol and reading the BB.

Hang in there this can be a very difficult time for you but you have four days under your belt keep building on them.

All the best

I used it, not sure if it worked for cravings but its great to recover from exercise.
Sugar also helped.
The 12 steps was what helped the most.
I put a lot of little things together, suppose they all helped in a way.
But without doubt my higher power was the key to getting sober.
Your doing well, keep going, keep it in a day.
I wish you well celticgirl

Well its only an urge, a thought. Cravings only happens when you take a drink, its the phenomenom of craving that is the allergy to alcohol.

Ice cream and coca cola did the job for me. I do very little sugar these days, but in early sobriety it certainly helped with the urges to drink.

For me it was cheese. I was just craving it. I must have had some calcium deficiency or something.
