Congrats on doing the service commitment. I think you will find later down the road that that service commitment helped you tremendously in so many ways. I know in my first year the service commitments I had saved my butt more times than I can probably admit! So many times I would think of excuses to not go to meetings and the service commitment would help me to keep coming. When I was in the middle of doing it, it got me out of me which I am still struggling with on a daily basis. I'm pretty sure that without the commitments I had at the beginning I would've slowly drifted away from the meetings and eventually AA as a whole -- and then eventually relapse again.
At least that has been my experience with service commitments. After all, it is one of the three sides of the AA triangle (service, unity, recovery).
