Arrow Big Book Quote

*~*~*~*~*^ BigBookQuote^*~*~*~*~*

"We, in our turn, sought the same escape with all the desperation of
drowning men. What seemed at first a flimsy reed, has proved to be
the loving and powerful hand of God. A new life has been given us
or, if you prefer, "a design for living" that really works."

I needed something outside myself to give me a "design for living." I definitely wasn't going to create and follow-through with one on my own.

True a work of god that book. Amazes me every day. That it was written in such a short time, and is just so powerful. A perfect design of living 77 years later.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing.. reminds me of this sentence..

We are like the passengers of a great liner the moment after rescue from shipwreck when camaraderie, joyousness and democracy pervade the vessel from steerage to Captain's table.

When new I preferred a design for living, now I see it was the loving hand of my creator.

When I try to contemplate how someone who never wrote a book before, much less one that had the spiritual principles in the book, and accumulated medical, psychiatric and spiritual commendations, and the stories of some of the pioneers of the AA crowd, and it held up so long, and works so well, I almost think that God had a hand in it. Of course, it isn't scripture by any means, but the truth and wisdom contained in its pages is absolutely baffling! I am awed at how many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of alcoholics have used it's principles to live a changed life. Amazing!
