AA Thoughts For The Day
~*~A.A. Thoughts For The Day~*~
Inventory
"We continue to take personal inventory and continue to set right any new mistakes as we go along. We vigorously commenced this way of living as we cleaned up the past. We have entered the world of the Spirit. Our next function is to grow in understanding and effectiveness. This is not an overnight matter. It should continue for our lifetime. Continue to look for selfishness, dishonesty, resentment, and fear."
Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 84
Thought to Consider . . .
When I am too busy to pray - I am just too busy.

I realized the quote today was missing the remainder of the paragraph in the big book.
I think to finish the thought makes good sense.
"Continue to look for selfishness, dishonesty, resentment and fear."
"When these crop up, we ask God at once to remove them. We discuss them with someone immediately and make amends quickly if we have harmed anyone. Then we resolutely turn our thoughts to someone we can help. Love and tolerance of others is our code."

Good stuff for sure. I have been going through some old journals from 2003 and OMG how truly sick I really was. I am so grateful I am not there today thanks to my HP who I choose to call God.
I love the new perspective I have on life now, from working the steps. When drinking I was living in my resentments, and had such fear of the future. I thought I was such a selfless, honest person. But I wasn't. I was always trying to manipulate things so I appeared to be 'little miss perfect'. I am constantly amazed now when I admit to my errors and apologise to people, and I see how they react so differently to me. Then I feel really connected to them and to my HP. This has been a real lesson in humility for me. I need to keep practicing everyday!
