Charles Dickens...A Christmas Carol and AA
Before there was the OG, we can see the formulation of the 12 Steps.
The ghosts of Christmas visit Scrooge. He basically does his 4th, 5th,6th and 7th steps. He figures it out-it's all about giving and being of service to others.
Then he starts making his amends.
He has a spiritual experience -and voila-the next day he's running around like a classic newbie 12 stepper, carrying the message to everybody in London.
Ok maybe I'm projecting.

Christmas Carol is about recovery
As previously mentioned Scrooge faces the “spirits” and does his 4th through 7th step.. my eyes were opened when in The last paragraph of Scrooge states” He had no further intercourse with “spirits”, but lived upon the total abstinence principle” ... interesting how spirits can be interpreted multiple ways ... Dickens was brilliant
Scrooge was propelled into a 4th dimension of existence...
