sean, bill w used to take walks and think about stuff,it helped him too
I have a friend who does some Buddhist meditating, sitting and going on weekend retreats,he says it helps his mind slow down and improve his focus
myself,I usually just sit still and get quite as possible on the inside in the mornings and do my 11 step, and also during the day.I mean for minutes, not seconds
that helps me more than anything I have ran across

Still haven't found a sponsor, but am trying to keep "spiritually fit" by keeping fear at bay. I have been listening to Joe and Charlie and love it. Reading the posts here help tons.
I realized that I have one choice to make daily and that is to maintain a contact with my HP. Anything beyond that I have no control over. My mind lets me think that I can drink or drug cuz I'm not that bad. If I keep praying (talking to God, I guess) then those thoughts don't enter my head.
