Any music?
I wanted to share just a couple of lyrics from a song I heard the other day. I'd never heard it before, but it just spoke to me. Like someone reading my mind or something.
Anyways, I know the song isn't about drugs or using, but it just fit so well how I am feeling most days lately that I just had to share it.
I know there's someone else out there that feels this way, too......
I don't pick up the mail.
I don't pick up the phone.
I don't answer the door.
I just soon be alone.
I don't keep this place up.
I just keep the lights down.
I don't live in these rooms.
I just rattle around.
I'm just a ghost in this house.
I'm shadow upon these walls.
As quietly as a mouse.
I haunt these halls.
I'm just a whisper of smoke.
I'm all that's left of two hearts on fire.
That once burned out of control.
You took my body and soul.
I'm just a ghost in this house.

Where You Are
Clare Burson.
It's a bit new agey; a bit Americana, a bit grassy. Enjoy.

Everything Is Free lyrics
"Everything Is Free"
Everything is free now
That's what they say
Everything I ever done
Gonna give it away
Someone hit the big score
They figured it out
That we're gonna do it anyway
Even if it doesn't pay
I can get a tip jar
Gas up the car
Try to make a little change
Down at the bar
Or I can get a straight job
I've done it before
Never minded working hard
It's who I'm working for
And everything is free now
That's what they say
Everything I ever done
Gotta give it away
Someone hit the big score
They figured it out
That we're gonna do it anyway
Even if it doesn't pay
Every day I wake up
Hummin' a song
But I don't need to run around
I just stay home
And sing a little love song
My love, to myself
If there's something that you want to hear
You can sing it yourself
'Cause everything is free now
That's what I say
No one's got to listen to
The words in my head
Someone hit the big score
And I figured it out
That we're gonna do it anyway
Even if it doesn't pay
Everything is free now
That's what they say
Everything I ever done
Gonna give it away
Someone hit the big score

"Gonna do it anyway, even if it doesn't pay."That line right there says SOO MUCH!! How many times have I heard someone say that when they are doing something that they love...and they feel very fortunate they are able to do what they love to do...because, well, they're gonna do it anyway, regardless, I guess....so that just made me stop and think. And, who are we working for?
And what is that saying by the Life Is Good folks? Do what you love, love what you do.
I'm Gonna Settle Down

More Lyrics.....
All I can say
Is that my life is pretty plain
I like watchin' the puddles gather rain
And all I can do
Is just pour some tea for two
And speak my point of view
But it's not sane
It's not sane
I just want someone to say to me
"I'll always be there when you wake"
You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today
So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I don't understand why I sleep all day
And I start to complain
That there's no rain
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake
And it rips my life away
But it's a great escape
Escape...escape....escape
All I can say
Is that my life is pretty plain
You don't like my point of view
You think that I'm insane
It's not sane....it's not sane
I just want someone to say to me
"I'll always be there when you wake"
You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today
So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I'll have it made
And I'll have it made
You know I'm really gonna
Really gonna
Have it made
No Rain - Blind Melon

Ginseng Sullivan
Ginseng is a big deal with some hillbillies....pretty cool song here. More Chris Eldridge and Julian Lage. This song is cheerful. Smile! This song is folksy, but it's got some cool chords thrown in here and there.

Ginseng Sullivan
Hey! This was written by Norman Blake. Wow. He goes back a ways...think Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Will The Circle Be Unbroken...

About three miles from the Battelle yard
The river curves on down
Not far south of the town depot
Sullivan's shack was found
Up on the higher ground
You could see him every day
Just walking down the line
With his old brown sack across his back
Long hair down behind
Speaking his worried mind
(chorus)
It's a long way from the delta
To the North Georgia hills
A tote sack full of ginseng
Won't pay my traveling bills
I'm too old to ride the rails
Or bum the road alone
So I guess I'll never make it back to home
My muddy water Mississippi delta home
The winters here, they get too cold
The damp it makes me ill
Can't dig no roots in the mountain side
With the ground froze hard and still
Gotta stay at the foot of the hill
But next summer, things turn right
The companies will pay high
I'll make enough money to pay my bills
Bid these mountains goodbye
Then he said with a sigh:
(chorus)
It's a long way from the delta
To the North Georgia hills
A tote sack full of ginseng
Won't pay my traveling bills
I'm too old to ride the rails
Or bum the road alone
So I guess I'll never make it back to home
