Thanks Chic and TB. I have been to several places in the past, only one chain of restaurants took paper applications, every other place I've been demands online.

Memory care facilities are going up everywhere and I will apply for them also. No matter what I start out doing, they have to have a billing department. Taking time off from the C's isn't really a problem but I need the money.

I stopped at a fast food restaurant on my way home from dad's the other night. One of my old shift managers from McD's is store manager. Offered me a job, but it's 45 min from my house, wouldn't pay enough to cover the gas. It would be a step backward, so told her "no thanks".

It will all work out. It always does

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Good afternoon Hen House!

Day seventeen here! I almost feel like I'm learning how to march with a group of soldiers again. Those were some trying days but also pretty funny too. Here you have 200 females in lines of four columns. We are all marching in one direction then the Drill Sargent calls "about face"! Well! You can just imagine all the gals that didn't turn around on the command! LOL A lot of f2f bumps and more laughter with soldiers scattered all about! And Drill Sargents yelling for all of us to get back in formation! Of course we all eventually learned to march in perfect time with each other and it was beautiful to see and watch!

This is like coming off the pain meds. Learning to do things w/o them again. I have the mentality and drive to do things! Only the energy hasn't caught up with my brain yet! SIGH! Been here before! Too many times actually! It comes and goes throughout the day and evening. When I have the energy I get up and get busy! When it's lacking? I sit in front of the DVR. Thankfully! I have the time to get thru this and not have to worry about going to work, etc. And I have NO cravings for the things either. Just the desire to be past these days again.

I went to bed with a headache and woke up with a headache! It's slowly getting better now that I've taken my BP medicine. So hopefully that will get rid of it completely!

I swear! Martha Mae needs a revolving door in here, instead of a revolving MOM!

Amy: You are doing the steps to find a job! You aren't sitting around with your head buried in the sand. You are WAY ahead of the group that has given up and is sitting in front of the TV eating potato chips or whatever! Just remember the white letters at the bottom of your letter! Sneak in the door anyway you can!

Did you know, If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

TB - I think my dad has heated a few cups of coffee

Work was okay, I tried to explain why it's necessary for me to come by at night to Mrs. C. Lo and behold, Mr. C's blood sugar was low and I ticked him off by waking him up and making him eat.

Had a loooong talk with bratkin. Unlike everyone else in her life, I'm willing to let her and the Mr make a decision and deal with the consequences. It's a great feeling to know that when everyone is yelling and screaming at her, she just wants to talk to me because I don't tell her what she SHOULD do. I just point out my concerns and we have a bond I never thought would happen.

I'll post about dad on whiners. He just hung up on me because I told him something was none of his business. I texted him that he needs help and he can get it or he will die trying to control what everyone does.

Bev texted me that she was sending B2's feedback on my resume, but it's not coming through.

Getting my spunk back, slowly but surely. Not sorry to be losing the funk.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

The middle of posting I got a phone call, and somehow Q sent the post without me even realizing it until I got off the phone. LOL

(Amy) I am happy to hear you're feeling better. Glad to hear you and bratkin have a good relationship. I know you don't agree with her decision, but I'm glad you're there to support her. That's big time growth on your part.

(TOD) Day 18, wonderful. Pretty soon you will be celebrating 30 days. Keep up the good work.

(Live) How are the kitties doing? Did you find a place to get them fixed yet?

A big shout out to all the missing hens and roosters.

Hugs to all

I'm great!

That is Fresno, my kitty who had his entire left leg removed in January this year for osteosarcoma found on his left "wrist." He had a sore left paw for over three years that the vet told us was probably arthritis. So when a huge lump developed on his left wrist last summer, we thought it was the arthritis coming back. Just after New Years, we took him to a specialist thinking he would have the "arthritis" corrected, and that vet took a biopsy and found the cancer.

Fortunately, the cancer he had is the slow growing kind and the vet said he should live out a normal life.

Wow, that was traumatic for the poor guy to have his leg removed, but now he acts as though his leg is still there. He's my favorite kitty and we love the heck out of him. Don't even ask what this cost us to have done.

His picture now represents strength and determination to me. Cats don't "overthink" anything, and life just goes on.....

Every place David has contacted says they are out of money.

We have found out that we are 1 of 5 households who feed whatever cats come around and some are our neighbors' pets making his smorgasboard rounds. I assume our TomKitty is doing the same.

((((hugs to all)))

(((FT))) (((Fresno))) so glad it went well for him! They can do remarkably well with three legs. sounds like he is going to be fine. I think its pretty cool, that cats, and animals in general, do not feel sorry for themselves. They just take life as it is, and love unconditionally.

(((Live))))I wish I could help you. I still think there is probably someone, under some stone as yet unturned. dont give up! sometimes there are generous folks too, who care and will help.

big hugs!

Did you know, milk took a huge leap in safety when chemist Louis Pasteur developed the pasteurization process in the 1880s. But dairy products still manage to be the runner-up in transmitting the most cases of foodborne illnesses. Despite more than 100 years of science behind pasteurization.

Holly Help said $55. We will try the other tomorrow. Thank you!

We got hit with a LARGE & unexpected bill this month, so at this moment even $55 is too much.

We could not afford what the first surgeon wanted for Fresno's leg amputation -- $2300!

Faced with letting him suffer a prolonged painful death or euthanasia, we found a small town vet who agreed to do the amputation for $800. We had a credit card that had just enough left on it to do it. Needless to day, we did not enjoy extravagant meals for a few months.

I don't like thinking of the choices we faced, and I'm glad we spent the money on Fres. (Still have most of the balance left still paying off, tho).

Live, I think there are probably better ones, I tried to call those and could not get anyone. maybe being long distance was a problem. I still think there may be individuals who can help. I know, 55 is a lot of money. why do cats come to poor peoples houses?

Wow, FT, that is a lot of money. Its pretty amazing what vets charge.

my domino broke a leg, and they offered fixing or amputation. he had a double bone break. I opted for mending. one bone healed, one did not....long story... but he still hobbles along and his foot had an infection, due to cast getting wet. lost a toe, bone is sort of exposed, and gets irritated sometimes. It cost a lot to go through what poor dom went through, but he was a trooper, til he had his fill of them scrubbing the dead skin on his foot, with hydrotherapy. he got crazy then... but he is ok now.
I wish I had let them take the leg, because I fear he will rebreak the one healed bone, he hobbles, and favors it and lays down a lot, because its not so comfortable to walk. sometime it may come to having it done and I wont worry, because at least he would not be in pain anymore, no more tender foot, you know?

hugs to Fresno! bet hes just hello on three legs!

Yes, I hear ya.

At first we just assumed they would amputate just his "wrist", but the vet said they never do that because the animal will still try to walk on the lame leg. The only real way to treat an animal with a really bad leg is to take the WHOLE thing off. Then we thought it would be just the leg, but it turned out to include the ENTIRE leg including the shoulder. VERY radical surgery.

Fresno was miserable for a few weeks and cranky for even longer. He had phantom pain where he would jerk away from some unseen animal biting him or something and even bit me once, presumably thinking I had poked him or something. For a short time, we worried we had done the wrong thing.

Overall, though, he is WAY happier than he was even a year ago. I think the foot hurt him more than we knew with the cancer growing unseen. I guess cats are pretty stoic and don't "complain" if they hurt. Instead, they hide or withdraw. Fresno stopped being "happy" a couple of years ago. Now we know why. He is his OLD self from before the "arthritis."

He's nine years old, and we're glad he's happy again.

I would advise anyone to go ahead with the surgery, given the choice between a lame leg and the amputation. But if you do it, shop around and usually there will be some kind soul to help you out. The vet that did the surgery is a kind, country vet who just loves animals.

And yes, he is HELL on three legs for sure! (A funny note-- he "beats up" our other cats with his phantom leg and must think he's pretty hot stuff -- it's pretty funny to watch)

Aw, that ended very well, and I am glad for you and Fresno That was probably a really rough time. My story was even more dramatic than I told you, because for two months I had to have domino in my room, without a cast on his broken leg!!! It was a freaking night mare, trust me. he had to wear a soft collar, those things are awesome, and I had to block off any place he could crawl, jump, or climb into , in my room. I took clothing and stuffed all corners, under the bed, dressers, etc. and taped a blanket on my bed so he could not jump up on it. I think that is when my stomach started getting bad. I could just look at that poor broken leg, with the infected foot, and nearly faint. but we got through it, and some how paid for it all.
I dont have much, but thats ok. material things are not what matter to me.. just am happy to pay my bills and afford to eat simply.

not happy times to remember but domino is happy, even if he is a bit gimpy. He seems to be able to run, jump and play with his brother, Sam. they were strays, but they became my indoor babies, once Dom got his leg broken. no more broken bones for us, hopefully.

I can't imagine Fresno 'using' his phantom leg to swipe the other cats.. that has to be pretty cute. the vet attendants told me that it is trendy now to have a tripod kitty. they were just trying to help me to not freak out..lol
