Day 1, thanks to Chantix. Week 7 on the Chantix. Horrible nausea if I don't eat first and some strange dreams, but I Like Strange Dreams....I even got to see my recently departed parents in a few dreams and they looked great and I enjoyed their company (call me crazy, I don't mind)....Day one. Who knew? I am now looking at cigs the same as alcohol. I've had enough, one leads to a million, so I am done!

Another 24 hours for me. I agree, Sugarbear, breaking the nicotine addiction was very difficult for me too. That alone is reason enough to never light up again, I already know that it would trigger the addiction again.

It is indeed a major challenge, but makes it that much sweeter to say 24!

I have been smoking for the last 2 weeks. I quit over a year ago and just had one cigarette. That was all it took for me to back smoking 20 a day. I feel dreadful as I started drinking again. I am in for day one again I hate cigarettes and what they do to me 24 for me..

Martina, I'm sorry to hear of your slip, but you know the drill and can and will gain control. Just focus on getting through this ODAAT; your confidence will grow along with your willpower!

StormiNormi, hang in there, you can do this! There will be peaks and valleys on this journey. I'm closing in on 9 months and I can say that the cravings do diminish over time, in strength and severity.

Back for another 24 smoke-free hours.

I'm still at it, but I've switched up my game plan a bit. Week 1 I cut down from 30-35 cigs/day. Near the end of that week, I decided to taper by hours instead. So...wk 1...1 cig/hr., wk 2...1 cig/hr & a half, and so on. The 1st couple of days after each cut is hard, but it seems like it gets easier to refrain for longer near the end of the wk. And twice this past wk, I forgot to have a smoke immediately after waking up.

I too struggled big time in the beginning and even had a good 6 months once before having a cigar which resulted in smoking for another 5years or so. I never did the tapering but I'm all for anything that helps. So we all can relate to each other's up and downs. Good luck gang!
