Day 1 killed it moving on to day 2.

I feel like I might be cheating though as I'm using patches. I've been reading these quit smoking blogs and many of the hard core ex smokers (you know the ones who stared at you when you WERE smoking as if you just kicked their dog) well anyway most are saying if you use cessation aides you are cheating and not truly a non smoker.

Anyone else use patches?
What are all your non smoker's opinions on that. Should I loose the patches and do it solo?

IM- I tried the nicotine gum a few times, but I found cold turkey was actually the easiest. It can be a few rough days, but then it starts to get better.

The patches or gum still keep you hooked on the nicotine- kind of like telling an alcoholic that likes drinking vodka to replace it with wine to help them quit drinking so much vodka. Personally, I think they are a huge money-making scam.

I definitely am a strong believer in the cold turkey approach. But sometimes we gotta experiment and find out what works for us though. I think any way somebody tries to quit smoking is a positive thing. If it works- GREAT!! If it doesn't- they know to try something else or do something different the next time. And getting over the denial phase and deciding to DO something about being addicted to cigarettes is a HUGE first step.

And whatever method you pick, you'll find nothing but support on this thread.

You are still using nicotine true. I used gum for the first week this time because I get so wierded out I cannot function. In a way it does seems like dragging out the withdrawal but it helps some people to step down. You are confronting the habit part of this for sure. You are also getting yourself used to a lower dosage of nicotine.

24 for me

I had to use the patches this time around. I needed to quit. I couldn't breathe. I could not go cold turkey like I did last time because I was a cold hearted bitch and my hubby could not deal with that while he was recovering from his motorcycle accident and brain surgery. It saved my ass BIGTIME!!!

I quit using the patch in the second month when I was forgetting to put them on in the second, 14mg step. I've been smoke free for almost 5 months now on the 18th.
