Let's see what happens

I made a post here last in 2009 talking about how I wanted to quit drinking. I failed miserably and continued to drink heavily after a few days of success. I don't know if I'll ever successfully quit this. I have sought help from various places to no avail. So I'm just going to start writing here daily to keep myself constantly conscious of my situation. Anyway, I'm going to bed and I didn't drink at all today for the first time in a few months. Small victory I guess.

That sounds like a winning plan, John. It's sure helped me to do the same.

Last night I was able to resist the urge to drink pretty easily. But I didn't get to sleep until about 4am and I had to wake up at 6am. I'm exhausted! I guess my body isn't used to shutting down without the use of alcohol. I think I will sleep well tonight though and I'm fairly confident I won't drink.

look below my user name - i first sigend up in 2008. I am now approximately 90 days sober after returning here in december after that initial signing up. In that interim, I couldn't possibly tell you how many times i 'tried' to quit snd lasted at most one month. So, you're not alone. The difference for me is that this time I'm serious about quitting, and it's been working. The only thing that matters ultimately is your desire to quit. If you look within yourself and find that you know you want to quit, you can find a way, and this board can certainly help you on that path.

I hope you get good sleep. If you are still having trouble sleeping, pick up some tart cherries tomorrow to snack on. They are a natural source of Melatonin and will hopefully help your body relax enough to get a good nights sleep.

Before I relapsed, I was sober for a couple of weeks (not huge I know) and I had a lot of trouble sleeping for a good couple of days. Now that I am back to day one, I am again having trouble sleeping. And that's the absolute worst when you are so exhausted but your body will not let you rest.

Best of luck and congrats on making through they day.

Keep it up John - It seems to take me about 4 days for my body to "learn" to sleep again

Welcome back.

My sleep is still evening out over 3 months later. It is getting better every month though! I just woke up and feel very refreshed. That never happened when I drank even on off days.

Welcome back John!

Gretchen welcome too. You may want to start your own thread so people can see what you wrote more visibly and help. What do you plan to do different this time?
