Class Of December 2013 - Part 7
well it's cold again - colder. I have three days of hunting left. It's supposed to snow today 1-3 inches. Heading out around noon - maybe.
Wife started classes again. Is nagging me every day to get a job. Our conversations about the reasons I am waiting seems to be forgotten.
Soon. Maybe sooner.

Snowing here. Drove 170 miles round trip on a strip of ice for an MRI. I'm detecting a pattern. Wife drove cuz I still can't sit or stand, so I dropped the passenger seat back and had to trust her. She drives fast on ice. Whoa. Awaiting results. Ironically, after ten days with little change I suddenly feel a little better (now that I've dropped $575), but the images should tell me if I should consider surgery or if there is hope this will subside without going under the knife. I've missed eight days of work so something's gotta change. We'll see. Doc gave me Celebrex but I'm hesitant to take any. Info online makes it sound risky. I'm told it's not legal in many countries. Anybody ever use the stuff?

Celebrex is similar to Vioxx which was taken off the market due to heart attacks and bowel perforations. I'm guessing these were long term and/or high dose users. People have petitioned to ban it in the US. It also should not be combined with other NSAIDs, and I've been taking Aleve for two solid weeks, so I'm going to save the Celebrex for next time I could use it but haven't been daily dosing on other drugs prior. Very anxious to see results of MRI. I'm in less pain today but that changes fast if I try to sit or stand for long.
celebrex? I just read about it, other than what it is indicated for, there seems to be alternatives, many folks had unpleasant reactions from it, and yes, it is banned in some places. could be a reason for it - I don't know.
Some people report success using it.
I remember a lot of adverts for it back when I had tv a year ago. A LOT. Other than that, I don't know anyone who has taken it.
But one thing I do know. The pharmaceutical lobby is very strong in the US and these companies are high dollar contributors into the political machine.
So don't expect America to do the 'right thing' even if it is called for.
Hope your results are favorable zero.

What's the MRI looking at, Zero? Your back, I guess? Don't know anything about celebrex; but with a brand name like that, I think it suggests party time to your pain center. Hope things improve for you soon.

Got MRI report. Sad. Protrusions, extrusions, tears, desiccation, and stenosis scattered throughout lumbar. No wonder I can't walk. I'm calling a specialist tomorrow. Wish me luck. I'm thinking I had to get sober because of the need to take medications that shouldn't be taken with alcohol. That's my excuse. Can't drink cuz I'm on medication.
Stay sober, my friends....

sorry to here all this zero, I worry that I may have troubles someday - compression fracture of three vertebrae. every time I moved my back goes crunch. I have a degenerative bone thing. And the doctors told me to stop drinking twenty years ago. What do they know?! I'm sure I'll be paying for it someday. I went the oppoisite route - I refused to take medication because it interfered with my drinking.
I hope they can help you with minimal invasion. My brother has a plate and fused discs. Then he fell down cellar steps years later. Ouch.

It's so hot. It's nearly 100F today. I'm trying to cool down with cloudy apple juice with soda water and a lot of ice. My cat is all streeeeetched out instead of curled up in a ball like she usually does. I gave her a little spray of water to cool her fur down and she didn't mind at all.

We're quite the crew. I just had a saturation biopsy of the prostate on the 23rd. The first biopsy was negat so I guess the were disappointed and scheduled a second one. The Doctor came out and told my wife that everything looked really healthy but we have to wait for the lab work to come in. Hoping for the best.

Tiger, try a dash of cinnamon on that apple seltzer. One of my favorites.
Vet, I had a similar experience on my skin. They biopsied, then again, and then the third one they insisted I needed wasn't fully covered and cost me a bundle. All benign but atypical. Nothing left but a two in scar on my back.
Hang in there, folks.
